FOODS TO FIGHT INFLAMMATION

Let’s look at some of the anti-inflammatory foods that you can add to your training diet as a cyclist to overcome inflammation :

  • Fatty fish: they are great sources of omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA along with being a good source of protein. Best sources of omega-3 rich fishes are salmon, sardines, herring, mackerel, etc. The DHA and EPA help to reduce inflammation that is a risk factor for diabetes, metabolic syndromes and heart diseases.
  • Broccoli: Cruciferous vegetables have anti-inflammatory effects because of the antioxidant content in them. Broccoli consists of sulforaphane that is an antioxidant which helps to reduce inflammation.
  • Avocados: They consist of magnesium, potassium, fibre and healthy fats along with tocopherols and carotenoids. All these compounds help to reduce inflammation.
  • Green tea: The EGCG in green tea helps to inhibit inflammation and also protect our cells from any damage.
  • Peppers: They have a high vitamin C content along with antioxidants that provides us with a good anti-inflammatory effect. Bell peppers are rich in quercetin which is an antioxidant that helps to reduce oxidative damage.
  • Mushrooms: They consist of selenium, copper and all the B Vitamins along with phenols and antioxidants that have anti-inflammatory effects. However, to reap most of its benefits eat them lightly cooked or raw as too much of cooking lowers their anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Turmeric: It has good curcumin content with great anti-inflammatory properties. If a person consumes 1g of curcumin along with piperine (found in black pepper) it helps to decrease inflammation to a good extent. Piperine helps to boost curcumin absorption in the body.
  • Extra virgin olive oil: It is one of the best and healthiest fats. Oleocanthal is an antioxidant which is found in olive oil that has anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Dark chocolate and cocoa: The flavonoid compounds (antioxidants) in them helps to reduce inflammation.

In conclusion, antioxidant-rich foods help to fight and reduce inflammation and should be included in your daily diet as even low levels of inflammation can lead to a lot of diseases. So include foods in your diet that help you reduce the risk of any illness, letting you stay healthy.

This platform not only helps the regular riders but also aims in strengthening the amateur riders like me. It's a delight to be a part of weekend rides, which include riders from all ages. While someone has rightly mentioned: 'Four wheels move the body, two-wheels ride the soul' I would like to add to this by saying, " Riding two-wheels with engine is easy.The real power comes when you paddle and become its engine." That's what cycling does to you. Noida Cycling Club is not just a community to increase number of riders, it ensure the safety, comfort and building confidence in all its members to have a prodigious riding experience. Well done to the ride coordinators, who act as the back bone of this Club.

    4 star review  Aman Puri , the Chief Cycling Officer runs a great YouTube page and INCUBATES certain riders to take over the mantle from him while he develops his branded/customised biking store in Noida . There are certain issues within NCC members w.r.t leadership roles but that merely causes a rating of 4/5 nothing else. Their WhatsApp group is very strict too, think a hundred times before clicking on the link to add yourself. Thanks . Hope this helped .
