AVOID THESE SIMPLE CARBS IN YOUR DIET
Carbs are the main source of energy for our body that are found in many products like fruits, vegetables, seeds, grains, dairy, etc. Carbs are made up of sugar, starch and fibre. Sugar is a simple crab, while starch and fibre are complex carbohydrates.
- Simple carbs are sugars. Some of this sugar is naturally present in foods like milk, but it is also added to foods.
- Complex carbs are more nutrient-dense in comparison to simple carbs as they have a higher fibre content. The fibre makes it more filling, and complex carbs also digested slowly.
- Carbs should be consumed on a regular basis as they positively impact our overall health and make it easier for us to maintain a healthy weight along with guarding us against lifestyle conditions.
Add more complex carbohydrates to your diet and avoid eating simple carbohydrates as they negatively impact your overall health and fitness.
List of carbs not to be included:
- Commercially available bread with refined wheat flour is very low in essential nutrients and is not good for metabolic health.
- Potato Chips and French Fries: Opt for whole potatoes as they are free from trans fats and any kind of processing.
- Sugary drinks
- Ice cream: It has very high sugar content.
- Sweet Yoghurt: Fruit flavoured, low-fat, non-fat yoghurt has a lot of added sugar.
- Candies, chocolates, cookies, cakes and pastries as they are made up of refined wheat flour and have very high sugar content.
- Fruit Juice is the worst beverage ever, especially low on carbs. Consuming fruit juice causes our blood sugar to increase rapidly and leads to increased food intake and hunger.
In conclusion, carbs in their fibre rich and natural form are very healthy for our body. But products that are processed are rich in sugar and refined carbs making it extremely unhealthy for a cyclist.
