A SPLENDID SUNDAY FOR BEGINNERS RIDING WITH THE NOIDA CYCLING CLUB
Keeping up with its tradition of weekend cycling, the Noida Cycling Club (NCC) organised a beginners’ ride for everyone who felt the need for a shorter ride after working hard for a week. The 40 km ride commenced at Noida’s Great India’s Palace and ended at the Ek Murti Chowk, with a pitstop at the city’s famous Brahmaputra Market.
Many cyclists assembled at the starting point at 6:30 am sharp. Others were to join the bandwagon at the Noida City Centre. This time, there was only one female rider in the group.
Some riders advised the team to begin the ride early to take advantage of an early sunrise. The riders were delighted to begin their journey and took several photographs with one another to mark the occasion. Steadfast’s popular energy drink Snergy provided a lovely flavour to their bliss, providing them with the energy to get going.
The newcomers were all praises for the team spirit of the Noida Cycling Club riders as they assisted a fellow cyclist whose tyre had gone flat.
The initial group of riders arrived at the Noida City Centre at 7 am. They were greeted with the sight of fellow cyclists filming them cycling with their phones. After meeting up and chatting with one another, they got back on the saddle and began pedalling for the remaining trek.
The road was deserted, the riders enjoyed the cool breeze as they cycled away from the public’s gaze. True to the spirit of the NCC, its veterans looked after the new riders, stressing the benefits of cycling and good nutrition all the while. The distinctive NCC jerseys and the interesting bikes added to the enthusiasm of the riders. The NCC jerseys in particular were a big draw for the riders, who scrambled to wear them.
The riders arrived at the Ek murti chowk at 8 am after having so much fun in between, and refuelled with Snergy in refreshing orange flavour.
A light moment came when one cyclist randomly enquired about another’s age. “45 years”, came the reply. Many riders were pleasantly surprised when the person took off his helmet to show his face. “Cycling is doing its job by keeping you healthy and youthful,” a rider added amid applause.
The entire group returned to their nutritious drink spot at the Brahmaputra market in under 30 minutes. It was 9 am but then there is never a dull moment at the Brahmaputra Market, a favourite hangout destination for many of Noida’s youngsters thanks to its food spots. Athletes, including runners and cyclists, crowded the venue. The environment was brightened by their endless chatter, motivation, and positive energy.
The cyclists had their favourite smoothies, took fantastic photos of themselves with their beverages, and headed for their respective destinations.
